I got myself a new toy this Black Friday. It’s the Husqvarna Viking H class 200S serger, and I LOVE IT.
I’ve been sewing for less than a year, so I wasn’t so sure that I am ready for a serger. I just sooo wanted one really bad. This is my little Christmas treat to myself. I don’t know much about sergers. I’ve never ever used one until this one. I’ve been reading reviews about how hard it is to thread a serger and what not. But I have to say that I took this baby out of the box and started serging away. It came prethreaded and ready to go.
Now, I won’t lie to you. I’ve had my few issues with it already. I’ve had to rethread it a couple of times, but I think it’s because of my lack of knowledge and experience. After a couple of tries, I got the hang of it. It gets easier to thread with practice. Practice makes
perfect easier. I also found this video that shows how to thread it. It’s really not that complicated. I’ve even changed thread colors twice already, once by rethreading, and once by just tying the new thread to the thread already in the machine. This new toy has been working all weekend making fleece pants and jackets to warm up little D in the coming winter. What I love most about it is that I get to serge all my new fabrics before washing them to prevent all those unwanted frays. 🙂

How about you? Do you use your serger much?
